What is DEWA Approval?

DEWA Approval is your official go-ahead from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to get electricity and water connected to your property.

It’s an essential step for any new build, renovation, or property handover, making sure your property meets all safety, technical, and legal requirements. Without it, you won’t be able to access electricity or water.

Simply put, DEWA Approval makes sure your utilities are safe, legal, and ready to use, so you can move in or start working without any hassle.

Why Choose DEWA?

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is more than just a utility provider—it’s committed to being sustainable, innovative, and world-class, while making sure customers get reliable service with ease.

To keep things simple and transparent, DEWA has set up clear approval processes for both individuals and contractors. Here’s what you can access:

  • Building NOC
Contractors can get the required NOCs for electricity and water to issue building permits. Applying is free, with only service charges when applicable.

  • Electricity and Water Connection
Need a new connection? DEWA’s ‘One Window System’ makes it easy to apply online. Applications are free, and service charges depend on your project.

  • Fit-Out Power Connection
Setting up a shop or office? You can request a fit-out power connection quickly and at no application cost.

  • Infrastructure Services Request
Contractors can submit requests online for electricity and water infrastructure services. Application is free, while service charges may apply.

With DEWA, you get smooth, reliable, and customer-friendly services, ensuring your home, office, or project always has the utilities it needs.

  • Apply Online
All applications go through DEWA’s online portal. We take care of preparing and uploading the required documents, like water and electrical drawings.

  • Track Your Application
You’ll get SMS and email updates so you always know the status. In most cases, DEWA issues the NOC within seven working days.

  • Drawings Reviewed
DEWA checks and approves your technical drawings. Once cleared, we move on to the inspection stage.

  • Site Inspection
A DEWA team visits your site for a technical inspection to confirm everything is up to standard.

  • Final Approval & Connection
After inspection, DEWA installs your meters. Once the security deposit is paid, your electricity and water connection is activated.

To get a DEWA Fit-Out NOC, you’ll need to submit specific technical drawings that show your project is safe and up to standard. These include:

  • TCL/MD and MDBs/SMDBs Schedule from the main project

  • Load Distribution Schedules for all distribution boards

  • Lighting Wiring Layouts detailing light connections

  • Power Wiring Layouts for all power circuits

Providing these drawings ensures DEWA can review and approve your fit-out smoothly, keeping your project compliant and on track.

To get a DEWA Fit-Out NOC, you’ll need to provide a few important documents to complete your application. These include:

  • Landlord’s NOC (in DEWA’s required format)

  • Tenancy contract copy

  • Valid trade license

  • Passport copy of the business owner

  • Ejari certificate

  • NOC from the building owner, real estate, or management

  • Affection plan with the plot number

Having these documents prepared in advance makes the approval process faster, easier, and stress-free.

Getting DEWA approval doesn’t have to be stressful. The Dubai Approvals Team takes care of all your documents and submissions, ensuring a fast and smooth approval process.
